Les collections du musée gallo-romain de Claracq sont toutes de nature archéologique et sont scindées en deux entités aux statuts juridiques différents. Elles ont été constituées globalement entre 1959 et 2005 au gré des campagnes de fouilles archéologiques successives de la villa de Lalonquette, menées en premier lieu de 1959 à 1972 par Jean Lauffray (Architecte des Monuments de France puis Maître de recherches au CNRS), puis par le Groupe de Recherches Archéologiques de l’Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour de 1994 à 2005. L’ensemble du mobilier archéologique mis au jour lors des fouilles anciennes a été acquis par l’Etat. Toutefois, en convention avec la DRAC Aquitaine, le musée est tenu de regrouper, conserver et valoriser les collections de l’Etat depuis 2008 (cf. annexe). Les vestiges issus des campagnes dirigées par François Réchin (Maître de conférences et responsable d’opération) sont quant à eux propriété de la Communauté de communes des Luys en Béarn (CCLB).
