Devenue musée Mistral après la mort de Madame Mistral en 1943, restaurée en 1995, la maison/musée Frédéric Mistral conserve un patrimoine exceptionnel : les meubles et objets personnels du poète et de son épouse. Près de 2.000 objets constituent le fonds des réserves du musée : meubles, textiles, objets du quotidien, estampes, tableaux, plaques de verre… mais aussi manuscrits et cahiers de notes, archives personnelles, revues, journaux et ouvrages. Le patrimoine de la maison/musée est notamment constitué de près de 60.000 lettres manuscrites. Celles-ci forment le corpus dense de la correspondance passive de Frédéric Mistral. Environ 30 % de la totalité des objets sont présentés dans la maison. Pour ajouter de la singularité à l’exceptionnel, la présentation des objets à l’intérieur de la bâtisse respecte l’aménagement souhaité par Frédéric Mistral. Un important travail d’investigation a dû être mené afin de retrouver l’état de la maison et la disposition de ses collections du temps du poète. Le visiteur est ainsi plongé dans l’atmosphère préservée d’une maison conservée en l’état depuis 1914.
