Musée créé en 1984 par l'Association des Amis du musée du Textile et du Peigne en Corne. L'association a confié ses collections au Département de l'Ariège qui en a transmis la gestion, par bail emphytéotique de 30 ans, à la Communauté de Communes du Pays d'Olmes, gestionnaire actuel des collections, des locaux et du fonctionnement. Les collections se sont constituées de façon continue, majoritairement par dons (90%), depuis 1980, avec les premières fermetures d'usines. Elles sont réparties actuellement en trois catégories avec des statuts juridiques différents : - la collection «Musée de France», appartenant au Conseil départemental de l'Ariège, mise à disposition à la Communauté de Communes du Pays d'Olmes. Les objets sont inventoriés depuis 2002 ; - la collection « étude », non inventoriée, appartenant à l'Association des Amis du Musée du Textile et du Peigne en Corne (AMTPC) ; - la documentation appartenant à l'AMTPC.
