Le musée départemental de Préhistoire des Gorges du Verdon ouvre ses portes le 28 avril 2001. Il conserve et expose un abondant mobilier préhistorique local, mis au jour entre la fin des années 1950 et le début des années 1970 par plusieurs chercheurs : Henry de Lumley (pour les périodes paléolithiques), Jean Courtin (pour les périodes néolithiques), Charles Lagrand (pour les périodes protohistoriques) dans le cadre du vaste chantier archéologique qu’occasionna l’aménagement hydroélectrique d’EDF sur le Verdon. Le musée rassemble en un lieu unique, à proximité des lieux de fouilles, le mobilier archéologique de plus de 60 sites et les données scientifiques résultat d’une cinquantaine d’années de recherches, afin d’en assurer leur valorisation auprès du public.
