Le musée de Salon et de la Crau a succédé au musée du Vieux-Salon, fondé en 1926 par l'Association des amis du musée du vieux Salon au château de l'Empéri (archéologie locale, ethnographie, iconographie sur Salon et sa région, peinture provençale, histoire naturelle) puis transféré dans le bâtiment actuel pour laisser la place aux collections militaires dans le château. Dans l’attente de la réouverture complète du musée, une salle présentant la totalité du legs du peintre Théodore Jourdan a été ouverte dans le château de l’Emperi en 2008. Elle propose une approche de l’œuvre du maître salonais et des paysages qui l’ont inspiré, à travers quelques-unes de ses huiles sur toile, dont dix-neuf de grand format, ainsi que de nombreux dessins.
