Créé en 1999, le musée de l’Image Populaire de Pfaffenhoffen est un des fleurons des musées du réseau des musées du Parc naturel régional des Vosges du Nord. Le projet ambitieux porté par la ville en partenariat avec le Parc joue pleinement son rôle de maillon du réseau des musées du Parc. Il a su conserver et mettre en valeur en l’enrichissant tous les ans, un patrimoine très spécifique de la région auquel les habitants de ce territoire restent aujourd’hui particulièrement attachés. Les collections du musée proviennent, d'une part, de la donation du notaire Me François Lotz et du Dr Kieffer (collections de peintures sous verre), de dons manuels privés, d'autre part, d'acquisitions en salle des ventes ou d'achats d’œuvres contemporaines le tout dument passé en commission d'acquisition depuis 2004.
