Dans un bâtiment contemporain inauguré en 1997, au cœur de la cité, le musée d’Art et d’Histoire présente une des plus belles collections d’art et d’archéologie entre Champagne et Bourgogne. Depuis le XIXe siècle, amateurs éclairés et généreux donateurs ont constitué un exceptionnel fonds d’objets archéologiques, de la préhistoire à la période gallo-romaine, de sculptures du Moyen Âge et de la Renaissance, d’arts décoratifs (coutellerie, faïences, meubles…), de peintures, de dessins et de gravures du XVIe au XXe siècles, de photographies anciennes. Le musée conserve également des collections d’égyptologie, d’ethnologie et d’histoire naturelle. Ces collections permettent de découvrir la richesse du patrimoine archéologique et artistique de la ville et de son territoire.
