Créé en 1905 par la Ville, le musée met en scène des collections très variées : numismatique, armes et céramiques anciennes, arts et traditions populaires... ainsi qu'un petit cabinet de curiosités paléontologiques et ethnologiques. Certaines pièces de céramique sont exceptionnelles, telles les céramiques des XVe et XVIe siècles semblables à celles de l'apothicairerie conservée à Baugé depuis 1720. Le musée de Baugé enrichit régulièrement ses collections de céramiques anciennes et contemporaines. Le musée a fermé ses portes en attendant un nouvel écrin. Une partie des collections reste visible le temps de l’exposition estivale.
