A la fin de la journée du 18 Octobre 1985, sous les derniers coups de truelle des archéologues, surgit une masse métallique agglomérée : le trésor d'Eauze, l'un des rares retrouvés en France et intégralement sauvegardés, vient d'être découvert. Dix ans après, au terme d'une longue campagne de restauration de publication des résultats scientifiques, l'écrin destiné à le recevoir est officiellement inauguré au cœur de la ville actuelle. Cette exceptionnelle découverte de l'archéologie française s'inscrit dans un contexte particulier qui devrait faire l'objet, au cours des prochaines années, de campagnes de fouilles systématiques de la ville antique encore préservée. Ces recherches constitueront un apport fondamental pour notre connaissance de la société du Sud-Ouest de la France.
