L’Hôtel-Dieu-le-Comte est fondé au milieu du XIIe siècle par le neuvième comte de Champagne, Henri Ier, dit le Libéral. À la fin du XVIIe siècle, la construction originelle en bois étant devenue trop étroite et vétuste, elle est remplacée par le bâtiment actuel en pierre. Aménagée vers 1725, l’apothicairerie du nouveau bâtiment est composée de l’actuelle grande salle de stockage ainsi que d’une officine. La pharmacie de l’Hôtel-Dieu est restée en activité jusqu’en 1962. Elle a été conservée dans l’état de son installation au début du XVIIIe siècle. Les collections ont fait l’objet d’un dépôt par l’Hôpital de Troyes à la Ville de Troyes en 1976. Ouverte au public depuis 1976, elle se compose de la « grande salle », pièce où les produits et plantes destinés à l’élaboration des remèdes étaient conservés et du « laboratoire », pièce attenante où les médicaments étaient préparés.
